Heat Policy - Curators
The Golden Grove Cricket Club (“the Club) has adopted the following heat policy for curators. We recognise that our curators are volunteers and that training or matches may be cancelled after our curators have prepared pitches.
Match pitches
The Club recognises that it is not always possible to predict if the relevant association will cancel matches due to heat. However, we are required to provide pitches for match days or risk forfeiting matches and/or receiving fines.
If the forecast temperature for the preparation day on the Bureau of Meteorology (“BOM”) App at Golden Grove at 3:30pm is 35 degrees Celsius or above, the Club will reimburse the curators the cost of drinking water up to the value of $10 per day upon presentation of a receipt.
The Club will not force any curator to prepare pitches under any circumstances but asks that the curator makes alternate arrangements for pitch preparation and informs the Club Committee that they are unable to prepare the pitch by 5pm on the Thursday proceeding the match.
If the Club provides reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, the Club Committee may choose to withhold payment for the pitch that was not prepared.
Training pitches
If the forecast temperature for the preparation day on the BOM App at Golden Grove at 3:30pm is 35 degrees Celsius or above, the Club will reimburse the curators the cost of drinking water up to the value of $10 per day upon presentation of a receipt.
If the forecast temperature for the preparation day on the BOM App at Golden Grove at 3:30pm is 38 degrees Celsius or above, the Club does not expect the curator to prepare training pitches. If the curator chooses not to prepare the pitch, the Club asks that the Club Committee and/or Senior Club Coach and any relevant Junior coaches are informed. Training will proceed on hard wicket, or alternate training will be arranged if allowed by the Club’s Heat Policy – Training.
The Club will not force any curator to prepare pitches under any circumstances but asks that the curator makes alternate arrangements for pitch preparation if possible and informs the Club Committee that they are unable to prepare the pitch by 5pm on the day proceeding training.
If the Club provides reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, the Club Committee may choose to withhold payment for the pitch that was not prepared.
