The Paula Luethen Shield

Introduction

Inaugurated in 2018/19, this award was donated by Paula Luethen, our first Club Patron and Member for King. The award recognises an outstanding contribution to the community.

Previous winners of the award have included services to women’s cricket, volunteer firefighter and for fundraising deeds. The award is to recognise people who have made a valuable contribution to the community and in doing so have contributed the standing of the Golden Grove Cricket Club in the wider society.

Selection Criteria

  • Any person affiliated with the Golden Grove Cricket Club, paid member or not, who has made a contribution towards the community. “Contribution” may be measured as:

    • financial contribution (e.g. fundraising),

    • community service (e.g. firefighting), or

    • community inclusion (e.g. women’s cricket)

  • Award winners can be selected on the basis of effort over one summer or cumulatively over many summers. The award does not have to exclusively take into account things done during the cricket season.

  • The award winner will not have his or her on field contribution counted towards this award.

  • The award will be decided by the Club Committee and awarded at the End of Season presentation.

  • The award winner will have their name engraved on the perpetual shield. There is no monetary value to the award.

  • Nominations for the award can be made by any Club member. Nominations should be made to any committee member for discussion at Committee meetings prior to March of the current season.

  • The Club is not required to announce a winner if there is no suitable candidate.
